Park Avenue
Gin - 2 oz
Pineapple Juice - 3/4 oz
Sweet Vermouth - 3/4 oz
Orange Curaçao - 2 tsp
Shake with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass.
The mere aroma of this cocktail can sent you to paradise. It’s not the first gin-vermouth-pineapple cocktail I came across but it’s certainly the best one, reminds me of the Million-dollar Cocktail, which is also made of these 3 ingredients but with egg whites and grenadine.
This drink was found in “Vintage Spirits and Forgotten Cocktails” written by Ted Haigh aka Dr Cocktail. Gin and sweet vermouth without question is a perfect combination, but the pineapple juice seems to be what ties them together nicely. This drink is surprisingly not overpowered by the sweetness, as I’m extremely intolerant of sweet drinks, the curaçao only play a small part in this cocktail and only provides a hint of orange flavour. One sip can take you back to the 40s America.
No garnish is required as nothing can improve what it already has.
